Mr Yazbek is highly skilled in gynaecological and early pregnancy ultrasound, with a particular focus on improving the diagnostic accuracy of ovarian tumours to guide optimal management. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London and leads a research programme focused on borderline ovarian tumours, as well as fertility preservation and restoration. He is regularly invited to speak at national and international meetings on these subjects.
In addition to his diagnostic expertise, he has extensive experience in both open and minimally invasive surgery for benign and malignant gynaecological conditions. He has been instrumental in advancing the use of intraoperative ultrasound to enhance surgical precision, particularly in complex cases and in women requiring fertility-preserving procedures. His combined expertise in ultrasound, colposcopy and advanced surgical techniques enables him to provide comprehensive, high-quality care across a wide spectrum of gynaecological conditions.
Joseph's research is centred on improving the management of women with suspected gynaecological cancer through enhanced imaging, reducing unnecessary major surgery for benign conditions, expediting accurate diagnosis, and developing innovative surgical techniques. This includes work on caesarean section techniques aimed at reducing the risk of abnormal placentation, as well as the use of intraoperative imaging to improve surgical outcomes.
Publications are available from the US National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health.
He is also a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology and British Gynaecological Cancer Society. Regularly training doctors and consultants in laparoscopic surgery, ultrasound guided surgery and gynaecological ultrasound.. And he has also pioneered the use of ultrasound guided surgery to allow precision in the removal of abnormal lesions, especially small tumours in the ovaries and uterus for women who require fertility preservation.
