Dr Sanooj Soni is a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthesia at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Critical and Perioperative Care at Imperial College London. He specialises in the perioperative management of high-risk patients and anaesthesia for complex surgical procedures, with particular expertise in gynaecological, hepatobiliary, vascular, and orthopaedic surgery. His clinical practice combines advanced perioperative medicine with the multidisciplinary care of critically ill patients within intensive care units.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Soni leads a translational research programme at Imperial College London investigating the mechanisms underlying acute organ dysfunction. A major focus of his research is the role of extracellular vesicles in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), with a broader interest in how cellular signalling contributes to systemic inflammation and multi-organ failure. His research has attracted significant funding from the National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia (NIAA), the Medical Research Council (MRC), and the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), and has been recognised with multiple national and international awards.

Dr Soni is deeply engaged in medical education and academic mentorship. He supervises undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students and contributes to the design and delivery of clinical and research training programmes at Imperial College London. His work exemplifies the integration of innovative science with high-quality, patient-centred care.

He has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals including The American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Thorax, and Frontiers in Immunology, and is regularly invited to speak at leading national and international conferences in the fields of anaesthesia and critical care.

Beyond his NHS and academic roles, Dr Soni is the co-founder and director of Medical Emergency Solutions, a pre-hospital medical care provider for public and sporting events. He also serves as one of the Medical Leads for the British Boxing Board of Control, where he applies his expertise to the medical oversight and safety of professional athletes.
